« § We'll always have the potholes § »

The drive to drop my sister off for her half day of school (as she's gone every day this week so far) reminded me once again of a girl I once knew.

It's the same road this girl and I took to school every morning when we went to high school together, albeit separately. I remember her talking more than once about treating avoiding potholes on this particular road as a game. Once she even missed them all, and was pretty excited about it.

Of course, they've repaved the part that used to be really bad. That repaving might have been done close to a year ago, now, already. There are other parts of the road that are getting bad now, though. I hope there are always some that are bad, to remind me.

The girl I mean was named after a state, but always went by a shortened form. Her name came from a Spanish mythological paradise, and the short form was Greek for "beauty." I think I found the second fact out our junior year in high school. I thought it was appropriate then and it gave me a "wow neat"/chuckle/"hmmh"/grin sort of reaction. I still think it's appropriate.

I has been some time since I've seen her, though. We've talked a bit here and there, but not hung out. We do go to school in the same city, even, but somehow never get together. I owe her copies of a few pictures I mentioned from back in high school when last we talked; I will try and set something up when I get back to school {though not until after my shows are over}.

I used to see her vehicle everywhere I went, when I drove, for awhile there. Not hers, of course, and I'm pretty sure I was just being goofy in the head, but I used to see similar ones all the time. I noticed two today, one that I even stopped right in front of to let my sister out. It's been an awfully long time since that has happened, since I noticed.

I've mentioned her before. I still wonder whether my dad was right. What a shame if so.

It has been too long - I miss her.
